Understanding Automatic Flight Record Downloads
While the idea of automatically downloading your flight records directly from your employer’s scheduling system is appealing, it presents significant challenges:

• Limited API Availability: The majority of airlines and scheduling systems do not offer a public Application Programming Interface (API) that would allow for automated data retrieval. This technical limitation means direct automatic downloads are not feasible for most pilots.

• Security and Policy Restrictions: Furthermore, many airlines explicitly prohibit the use of third-party software to access and download flight records. These restrictions are in place to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with their internal security and data protection policies.

• Credential Security Risks: Sharing your login credentials with any third-party software introduces a potential security risk.

• Policy Violation Implications: Providing your credentials to external software can also constitute a breach of your employer’s internal regulations and data protection policies. Such actions could lead to disciplinary measures, including potential termination of employment.

• Our Commitment to Data Protection: At FLYLOG.io, we prioritize the security and privacy of your data. Utilizing pilot credentials for automated downloads could expose us to breaches of data protection laws, potentially resulting in legal repercussions.

Due to these technical limitations, security concerns, and policy restrictions, automatic flight record downloads directly from employer systems are not a viable option for the vast majority of pilots. However, FLYLOG.io provides a secure and efficient alternatives, allowing you to easily upload your exported flight data.
