FLYLOG.io allows you to add digital signatures to selected flight records and include your own signature in exported PDF logbooks. This feature is primarily intended for training, revalidation, proficiency checks, and type rating flights where an instructor or examiner signature may be required. Digital signatures are recognized by major aviation authorities.
Setting Up Your Own Signature
Set up your digital signature directly in your profile to have it automatically applied to PDF exports, saving you the need to sign records manually.
Mobile App: Tap your profile picture (top left), scroll down to the "My signature", create your signature right in the app.
Web App: Tap your profile picture (top right), scroll down to the "My signature", create your signature right in the app.
⚠️ If you don’t want the signature to appear on a specific PDF export, you can switch it off in the advanced customization settings.
Signing a Flight Record & Collecting Endorsements
You can add signatures directly to individual flight records, including endorsements from instructors, examiners, or senior colleagues when required for training, license applications, ratings, revalidations, or proficiency checks. Signatures can be collected directly on your phone or tablet, or uploaded as an image if needed.
Open the flight record
Tap Edit
Scroll to the Signature section
Draw the signature on-screen or upload an image file (PNG recommended)
Save the record to apply the signature
⚠️ Important: We strongly recommend not signing every flight record, as this can significantly increase PDF export time and create extremely large files that are difficult to open, process, or share. In most cases, signatures are only required for training, revalidation, proficiency checks, or type rating flights.
Best Practices & Troubleshooting
Avoid HEIC files (commonly created on Apple devices), as they are not widely supported. Convert HEIC to PNG before uploading (e.g., Preview on Mac → File → Export → PNG)
Always use PNG for your signature image
Keep the file size under 1 MB
Ensure good contrast so the signature is clearly visible in exports
If the image still doesn’t show, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser
