New Audit Log: Every Logbook Change Tracked for EASA and FAA Checks
Can a digital pilot logbook fully replace a paper one? For many pilots, the real question is simple: can you prove your records were not changed after the flight? With the new Audit Log, FLYLOG.io now gives you that proof, ready to show to EASA, FAA and other aviation authorities on request.
What EASA, FAA and other authorities expect
A paper logbook shows every correction: crossed-out values stay visible. Regulators expect the same from a digital logbook. EASA requires pilots to keep a reliable record of all flights (FCL.050) and sets the format for electronic logbooks (AMC1 FCL.050). In the US, logbook requirements are set by 14 CFR 61.51, and the FAA’s guidance on electronic records and signatures is AC 120-78B. Some authorities, such as the Swiss FOCA, go further and require every change in a digital logbook to be traceable and included in printouts.
What is the Audit Log?
The Audit Log is a complete history of changes to your flights in FLYLOG.io. It shows, newest first, when each flight was created or edited, and exactly what changed. You can find it in Settings, right below Lock Flight Records.
For each change you can see:
Date and time of the change, to the second
Type of change: Created or Edited
Flight details: route, registration, flight date and duration
The old value and the new value of every changed field
Signed flights stay protected
A signed flight cannot be edited. If you need to change it, you must first unlock it, which removes the signature. This cannot be undone, and the removed signature is shown in the Audit Log, so the change is always visible.
Export the Audit Log as PDF
When an authority asks for proof, you can export the Audit Log in a few taps:
Open the Audit Log.
Tap the PDF icon (top right).
Choose All changes or a Date range.
Share the PDF together with your logbook export, and the inspector can see your complete history of edits.
Restore an earlier version
Made a mistake? You can bring your logbook back to an earlier moment. Use Revert to return to how your logbook was on a specific day, or Revert all changes after this to undo all changes after a selected moment. Removed signatures are not restored by reverting.
Lock Flight Records: after 24 hours
Lock Flight Records locks each flight 24 hours after it is created. Locked flights cannot be edited and are marked with a lock icon. Once enabled, only our support team can disable it. Together with the Audit Log, this gives you a logbook that works like paper, with the benefits of digital.
Availability
The Audit Log is available now on web and mobile, in both Basic and Premium plans.
